Through its consultancy and professional work, CATS has had a significant influence on the development of the internal audit profession generally, on its operation in specific sectors, including government and healthcare, finance and industry, and also on practices and standards within individual audit functions.  We can help to establish an audit function from scratch, assist in the development of an existing operation, improve its productivity, standards and effectiveness, and perform "health checks" and quality assurance reviews. We have been asked to advise internal audit units on the appropriateness of their practices, extending the scope of work, responding to Turnbull, the introduction of working papers, the standard of reports, preparing for competition, implementing professional standards, project audit, the impact of control self-assessment, VFM studies, working with Audit Committees and many other matters.  A recent project, for example, involved the design of an integrated control framework for a major overseas company.
