RISK-BASED AUDITING
This course, based on an
original design by CATS International, is aimed at auditors, typically with some
months experience of basic internal audit practices, who wish to develop their
skills in assessing risk within business processes and helping management to
implement and improve risk management systems.
It provides guidance on the
principles and practices of risk-based auditing, explaining how auditors can a)
integrate risk identification, assessment and reporting techniques within an
audit assignment, and b) advise management at a senior level on the development
of cost-effective risk management programmes and risk mitigation strategies.
Through presentations,
exercises, case studies and real life examples the course demonstrates how a
risk-focused approach can lead to revitalised and more useful audits, and help
an organisation to meet both business needs and external requirements.
The training summarises
latest developments in governance and risk management (including international
and UK risk management standards) and shows how the internal audit function can
extend its role and scope, and maximise the contribution it can make.
Detailed guidance is given on
how to conduct risk-based audits of day-to-day operational processes and higher
corporate systems and issues.
The course also covers audit
assignments based on COSO, and gives advice on how to audit the control
environment and some of the “softer” aspects of governance, control and risk
management. Naturally full account is taken of professional expectations,
including the new IIA Standards and those of other bodies where appropriate.
It is also particularly
relevant for those taking the internal audit and control examination papers of
IIA, CIPFA and other institutes.
We are flattered that this course has been copied by others. This
is the original and real thing!
